David L. Brewer -- Pike County Attorney
|
The Office of the Pike County Attorney is primarily responsible for the prosecution of
all misdemeanor crimes (traffic citations, assaults, domestic violence, DUI, minor drug
offenses, etc.) occurring in Pike County, Missisippi. In addition to these
responsibilities, the County attorney serves as the Youth Court Prosecutor and
presents felony cases at preliminary hearings before the Justice Court of Pike County,
Mississippi. David L. Brewer took office on January 7, 2008.
The County Attorney is also requested to represent the Mississippi Department of
Public Safety in civil DUI Breath Test Refusal Hearings and has the authority to
present cases to the Pike County Grand Jury in some circumstances. However, the
chief prosecutor in the Pike, Lincoln and Walthall Circuit is the District Attorney, Hon.
Dee Bates.

The Pike County Justice Court meets for trials each Tuesday at 9:00 am. Those
who wish to have charges "dismissed" may meet with the County Attorney at
the Pike County Justice Court on the date of the trial setting.
DOMESTIC CASES: Due to the nature of domestic crimes, the risks to victims
and law enforcement and the strong interest this office has in protecting
individual citizens, domestic violence cases will rarely be dismissed at a victim's
request.
